Adam Key is a self-taught artist whose work pulses with raw, visceral energy. Born from years of untapped creativity, his art erupts in chaotic splashes of fiery reds and oranges, layered with texture and contrast that give his pieces both intensity and polish. Behind the wild, expressive strokes lies a deep sense of narrative. Stories of conflict, chaos, and transformation. After a lifetime spent in roofing and construction, Adam came to art later in life. Without formal training, he forged his own creative path in a makeshift Blackheath studio nearly a decade ago. Working with the materials he knows best; composite slate, underslating, membranes, roofing primers, solar reflective paints, red oxide, acrylics, and solvent-mixed oils, he transforms industrial products into striking works of art.For Adam, art is more than a craft: it’s escape, self-expression, and legacy. His paintings carry the grit of his working life, the fire of personal reinvention, and the unfiltered voice of a man who paints not because he must, but because he can no longer contain what he has to say.
