This collection brings together two foundational themes in classical ink brush painting: The Four Gentlemen and The Four Seasons. Across eight ink-on-paper pieces, Carry Hornby pairs the orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum and plum blossom with spring, summer, autumn and winter, using each fluid stroke to capture a specific atmospheric shift through the year. Working with traditional ink, brush, stone and Xuan paper, Carry explores control and spontaneity side by side. The exhibition invites visitors to pause and reflect on the natural cycles of the seasons, and on their own place within them.
